Elliot Cooper — Wales based adventure & lifestyle photographer.
It's fair to say it's been a little while since my last proper blog entry, and quite a lot has changed since then. For quite some time I'd felt uninspired, unmotivated & wallowing in some form of a creative slump. I believe anyone who practices in the creative industry can relate whole heartedly to what that feels like. I couldn't bring myself to get out and shoot anything. If I did, I was nowhere near content with it.

In an attempt to break free of that period I made a pretty major change, I finally purchased my dream camera. It's the Canon 5D Mark III. Surely now I'd obtained my dream body/lens setup it's all hands on deck for me? Wrong. If anything I felt almost intimidated by the change! I had so many idea's I wanted to put into action yet struggled to actually visualise or make them a reality.
Don't get me wrong I adore landscape/adventure photography and to an extent it's somewhat what I'm known for. I personally felt that my work had become stale, lacked originality & I just wasn't happy with what I was creating. I fell victim to the Instagram figures & began to care more about what others wanted to see rather than what I wanted to create. More likes, more followers, more comments, so on so fourth. It's never ending & can literally become mind numbing. I adore Instagram as a platform and a community & owe pretty much 80% of my work/photography to it, but you have to be in control of Instagram, not the other way around.
So I needed another outlet, and a fresh challenge.
Something I'd always admired was lifestyle photography, brand photography and general interior photography. I've done bits and pieces in all of those area's but never spent a decent amount of time working with them. Luckily, something I spend a lot of my free time doing is visiting coffee shops. It's one of my girlfriend & I's favourite things to do.
If you're into your coffee, you'll know that many hangouts now are insanely aesthetically pleasing and are screaming to be photographed! It was the perfect opportunity to start learning and shooting a different style of photography. So I brought my camera along and felt my flair returning within the blink of an eye.

I decided to start a second Instagram account to document & share everything I shoot around these area's called @cooper.lifestyle, in some ways I'm still adhering to that pesky Instagram OCD of not wanting to mess with my current @cooperexplores feed but nonetheless I'm thoroughly enjoying a new line of creating.
Dan - Lufkin Coffee Roasters
Photography wise I've longed to shoot for rad brands & products, portraying visual stories of skilled professionals who excel at their craft. I've been endlessly inspired by three photographer's in particular - Alex Sedgmond, Finn Beales & Shane Coker.
All 3 of these guys are exceptionally talented in their own right. The way they shoot brands & products is mesmerising. Both cinematic and intricately detailed. I implore you to click their names & peruse their work for yourself, you'll see what I mean!
The work of these 3 alone inspired me to shoot anything and everything, especially to reach out to small business'/craftsman and shoot them doing their thing. The first opportunity I got to do this I jumped at the chance & it couldn't have been for a more gnarly hard working company. I headed to Who? Clothing to shoot them printing their new clothing line & generally their headquarters, the photo's of which you can see here.
So that about brings me up to date to today. I'm still heading to coffee shops/cool but different locations with a camera in hand and shooting whatever I can, enjoying every second.
To conclude, If you are a small business, craftsman, shop owner, florist, tattooist, ceramic artist, barista, candle maker... anything! Please drop me a message, let me shoot you doing what you do best & let's create something awesome together.
